CONSTRUCTION 2

This was probably the most essential learning curve that tested our wits but allowed our knowledge of the related technologies to our project to stretch. Due to the slight differentials in the production process the solidwroks had to go through a stage of restructure in order to ensure we had a real draft blue print to work off.

Magnet Problems

We were caught unawares by the property difference between magnets and the steel sheeting which we were using in the construction of our cube, We were forced to seek professional advice for a second time and the specialist at Magnets NZ told us of the property values in the core of the metals, That even if it appeared flush the magnets where being demagnetised by up to 35% and would minimise its power in a way that would make the structure un feasible.

Wood Time

We were then advised that wood was a material the would work with the magnets that were already purchased. So the solidworks was restructured to include the wooden panels and to also take on board the new calculations that needed to be made based on the changes in material(see diary)
